2012 Art Journal

Hot off the presses!! Had so much fun creating my2012 art journal cover this morning!
And I did feel so joyful as I was making it! Listening to Il Volvo-those great Italian boy tenors who sing ala Andrea Bochelli-singing along at the top of my lungs, gluing sewing, stamping--so much fun. The center image is a piece of paper cloth I made last year that I embellished with some stitching and embellishments. Each year I  order the Book of Days calendar from One Spirit book club. It has a hard cover and nice weight pages. I use the calendar as a calendar that year and then recycle it into my art journal the next.

Santa's Helper

Sparky's friend Rocky sent him a little red coat for Christmas. It's quite cute, but Sparky doesn't much like posing in it as you can tell by the next photo!
Sparky and I wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and the Happiest Creative New Year!!

Klimt Inspired

I wish you could really see how the gold shimmers on this painting. I am taking a class called Magical Mythical Beings from Tam at the Willowing ning site. We are working on goddesses and the inspiration was Gustav Klimt. I have always loved his paintings. I decided to paint my canvas with black gesso and paint on top of that, as I had never tried it before. I also used gold gesso for the moon behind the goddess and I scratched the design into it before it dried. The pieces on the dress are a combination of papers and fabric. I will definitely do the black gesso background again.

And then I made even more, but I forgot to photograph them before I mailed them out! And then, here are the little purses I decorated.

Pennants

In the Roses on my Table ning group, we recently had a little class on making pennants. Here are a couple I've made. You will have to click to enlarge to really see them.
The first one I made using pieces of gameboards. I'm going to send it to my little granddaughter for Christmas. The Christmas one I may keep or maybe I will give it to someone. Haven't decided yet. This was a fun project.

The final "element"

Spirt is what brings all the elements together. And here is my page
