Because Art Should be Play and Not Work

The future of blogs and blogging

No art today. Just wondering...Have you noticed a lack of people commenting on your blog? Do you think Facebook has replaced blogging? I post on FB, but I always liked my blog because I could post more and people left actual comments rather than just clicking "like". Makes me wonder if it is still worth it to blog when I get so few comments any more. Have you noticed this? What do you think?

Oh yes. I wonder about this all the time but then I get oodles of comments about people who read and just don't comment. Many do on FB since they are linked. I'm not as good at commenting as I used to be. There's just so much. I do try. I think it is what it is and my blogs are my "journals" so I will continue with them.

I used to be on FB Janet and did not have positive experience. I guess I look at my Blog as a "journal" of sorts to share my art and get to view what others are creating.

I have notice a drop in comments but there are so many choices of social mediums. I guess it's an individual choice.

I haven't blogged as much as I used to. So that's a different issue. I actually find fewer of my regular people blogging. Yes I do think FB has taken the place of it.

It is true. We don't get and give as many comments. I always appreciate yours Janet.
I think there are many more options now but I still feel there is a place for blogging. I mostly do it for myself as others have said it is my journal.
I believe the people are there but just quietly enjoying.

Yes I think FB has had an impact on blogging but also I think people got a bit burned out on blogging. I suppose I am just speaking from personal experience, but I noticed that many people were not posting as many blog posts as they used to and instead spending more time on FB. I don't blog as frequently as I used to and I try to stay off the internet as much as I can just because it takes up so much time that could be better spent else wear. Now I'm kind of moving back towards spending more time on looking at blogs and almost no time on FB. I will keep blogging as the mood strikes because it is a good place to record my art and my life if only for my own sake. I don't read all your posts but I do like stopping in here and seeing what you are up to so I hope you keep blogging.

Keep on blogging, I do not do FB except to keep up with my family. I do not write enough on my blog, but I love it and love seeing other's blogs, where I can see their lovely needlework etc.

Well, Janet...since you asked! I really don't think FB has taking the blog place as all the blogs I visit, I still see people leaving regular comments. Personally , being new to blogging, there are days when i have little to no comments, but those are few. When those days hit, I post my blog post to FB and soon afterward, I end up with comments. As someone earlier said,I also think it's personal preference...I'll stick to blogs, because I love to see what others are up to and find them much more personal than FB- which can be very overwhelming and very Impersonal!Keep writing janet, and I'll keep visiting!

Janet, I do notice that people don't leave many comments. It's disheartening. My Design team does such a fabulous job making art and posting pictures and writing entertaining posts... and I'm sad when I see just a few comments. The ONLY time I get a LOT of comments is when I'm giving away something for free! Sometimes I wonder if it's worth it to keep it going....

I don't think Facebook has replaced blogging. The problem is more that there are so many social media channels that people just don't have time anymore to comment everywhere. Which in my opinion doesn't mean that they don't read your blog. It's like Lisa says: when she's having a giveaway she gets lots of comments, which means people are still reading her blog, just not commenting. You can also see it in your profile how many people have actually looked at your posts. Do you see a decline there too? I love blogging much more than Facebook, and when I see something interesting on Facebook I always look whether they have a blog, so I can subscribe to it. Whether you keep blogging depends a bit on why you blog I guess. I hope you won't stop, there might be more people that follow you than you realize....

I want to thank you, Janet for always stopping by and taking the time to comment on my blog xxx

Yes, I have noticed the decline in Blogging comments but I put that down to me no longer participating in card and painting challenges and for abandoning my blog a little.Facebook seems to have taken over because joining groups is a fun way to keep your art energy going. The downside is SPAM everywhere. Facebook is more of a business media rather than a social media IMO.

Hi Janet!
Great post and question. I think blogging is much more personal and interesting, though I have been a poor blogger since I broke my ankle. I will get back to it as my energy level increases. I see way to much complaining and language in poor taste on FB. I find it offensive to see so much potty mouth. You dont see it on blogs since you pick your favs to follow. FB is full of bragging or complaining, not my thing. Keep up ypur lovely blog, I would miss it for sure:) Then I would be having to pick up the phone all the time, lol to chat with you.
Hugs xoxo Marilou

Good question Janet, and one that so many people are asking. I think it's that there are so many social media websites...not just Facebook. Pinterest is big now too and many go there for their "art fix". Many of my usual blogging connections are on FB and Instagram and they are posting photos daily or more.

I keep blogging for a personal record...I usually only gaze at art/photos on blogs rather than read entire posts. There just isn't time to read everything, but I try to read when things look import. When I have been away from reading blogs and then come back to it...I really enjoy it. It has a personal feel to it that the other social media sites don't have.

Janet. I love art and all. I try to comment. I do add allot of people. Sometimes way too many. As I have my own blog. Yet I will take a day or night and go back and comment. Other times I do go back to that person and admire the blog.

So In my heart of heart. I appreciate all I took on my list.
Your work is awesome. You have so many different kinds of art on. Your work is beautiful indeed.
